al-Birr wa-Taqwā are an East African group of munshids (singers), based in Barking, Essex. The group came together in late 2003 seeking to present and re-interpret traditional Islamic songs known as anashīd – a genre that originates from the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

In 2010, the group was proudly named by the esteemed scholar, al-Ḥabīb ‘Umar bin Sālim bin Ḥafīz.

These spiritually-uplifting songs seek to praise Allah and His final Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)
